Games Ideas: Tag/Tig or IT

October 13th, 2009 Editor No comments

A well known and easy to play group “TAG” game suitable for all ages

How Many Players: 3 or more
Aim of the Game: To chase and Tag/Tig another player making them It or ON
How to Play: Decide who is Tagger first and whether there is a HOME or TIME OUT place and if so where it is and how long a player is allows to be there.
All players run around the designated area (not too large otherwise it becomes untenable) Tagger chases the group members and Tags (GENTLY!) whomever they can. Once tagged, a player is then on and they take their turn chasing other players. If a player is on the HOME or TIME OUT space they can’t be tagged. Avoid staying here too long so as to keep the game going, avoid arguments and avoid cooling down.
Equipment Needed: None
Where to Play: In a good sized space clear of any obstacles eg park, hall. Decide on a boundary for the game before starting.
Benefits of this game: All TAG games are high intensity Aerobic Exercise so even a few minutes of a game like this will raise the heart rate, begin working the lungs and start burning calories. Good for all round health, spatial awareness and cardio vascualar health.
Play safe: Warm up with a slower game first. Clear space free of obstacles, laces done up and good running footwear. Encourage players to be aware of everything around them, including each other!

A well known and easy to play group “TAG” game suitable for all ages

How Many Players: 3 or more
Aim of the Game: For the Tagger to “stick” as many players as possible.
How to Play: Decide who is Tagger first and after how long or when the Tagger will change.
All non players run around the designated area (not too large otherwise it becomes untenable) Tagger chases the group members and Tags (GENTLY!) whomever they can. Once tagged, a player “Sticks” to the spot with arms and legs apart and waits to be freed by another group member. Freeing is best done by a group member running underneath the raised arms of the stuck player.
