Christmas Weight

Christmas Weight

Well it’s that over-indulgent time of year again when chocolates, wine and treats are abundent, but Christmas doesn’t have to include piling on extra pounds if you don’t want it to!

Balance – Eat, be merry AND dance and play. By maintaining a healthy balance of treats, healthy choices and activity you’ll be well on the way to keeping trim this Christmas. As well as an increase in calorie intake Christmas holidays usually bring a reduction in activity levels. By keeping your activity up you’ll be burning off and toning up all over Christmas. Dancing is a perfect way to do this and so is playing with the kids, enjoying a morning family walk, swim or workout of choice.
Positive – Decide that you WILL stay trim. Resigning to the idea that you will put on weight only makes that outcome more likely. Decide on a your positive outcome to maintain weight and keep that positive thought at the forefront of your mind.
Imagine – Imagination is a powerful tool so take a few moments to imagine your positive outcome, see it, hear it, feel it, celebrate it and believe it. This will strengthen your positive resolve and make it even more likely to work out.
Switch – Swap white stuff for brown! Carbohydrates in white bread, pasta and rice tend to up your appetite so switch them for their brown equivalents and double up on protein as this can help reduce the appetite.
Enjoy Changing or maintaining weight shouldn’t feel negative. Keep your goal in mind and enjoy working toward it. This is where play and activity also help as they MAKE us feel good without making us feel we are losing something.
